by Ihr Seid Kein Sicherheit and Justice Collective for a discussion about police abolition.
When: December 6, 2021, 19:00 – 20:30
We will be joined, via Zoom, by Vanessa E. Thompson, who will start the event by talking about her article, “Beyond Policing, For a Politics of Breathing” about the continuities between colonial policing and racist policing today—and the need for abolitionist politics.
We will then, together, have a conversation about how we may learn from it as we take on actions and campaigns against racist policing in Berlin today.
Vanessa E. Thompson researches in the fields of Black Studies, critical racism and migration studies, policing and abolition. She works with transnational abolitionist movements, is a co-founder of the Initiative of Christy Schwundeck and a member in the International Commission on the death of Oury Jalloh.
The input will be in English, the discussion will be in English and German.
